Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) is the world’s first evidence-based form of somatic yoga treatment for individuals who have trauma or have difficulty in the relationship with their body. It is particularly helpful for those who have been diagnosed with Complex Trauma ( C-PTSD) or PTSD, but no diagnosis is needed to participate.TCTSY integrates trauma theory, attachment theory, neuroscience, and hatha yoga. It is a body-centered practice that helps restore connection to the body in a safe, deliberate way.

Rather than concentrating on physical form, TCTSY presents opportunities for you to make choices in the present moment based on the internal felt sense of your body (interoception), cultivating a sense of agency and body awareness.

Although historically, trauma healing has focused solely on the mind and behavior, it is now recognized in trauma literature that remembering the body and the impact of trauma on our entire existence brings significant benefits (Ogden, van der Kolk, Levine, Rothschild, Emerson, Haines). TCTSY supports individuals in their healing journey, acknowledging the holistic impact of trauma on both the mind and body.

TCTSY in online form is increasingly being utilized and yields equally good results as in-person sessions. An additional advantage is that one can practice in the comfort and safety of their own space, and can turn off the camera if there is resistance to being seen by others – your resistance here is celebrated and recognized as the wisdom of your body.
